Customers to get relevant information regarding the product they're looking at

Apple is implementing an “iBeacon” system which uses sensors to track iPhone owners coming into a store to feed them relevant information regarding the products on display.

One developer who knows about the technology said, “iBeacon seems like it was created with Apple retail in mind.” According to 9to5mac, the transmitters will be placed on the display tables and store shelves.

Customers will have to download and install a new version of the Apple Store application before any sensors can feel their presence in-store. So if you’re the type who believes the feds are watching your every move... well, I was going to suggest to skip this update, but you might as well disconnect yourself from the grid while you’re at it.

The initiative is said to improve the Apple shopping experience and boost sales in the process.
