Apple Inc. and Square Inc. have teamed up to start selling the latter’s Square Register throughout Apple Retail Stores for $299 / €233.

The flashy Square stand allows business owners to install customizations and use the iPad as a cash register with an integrated card reader, keeping information secure from swipe to payment.

“Quickly and easily connect a receipt printer, kitchen printer, cash drawer, and barcode scanner. Get your hardware up and running in minutes,” says Square Inc.

A free point-of-sale (POS) app is supplied with the hardware, enabling users to set how the register accepts cash, card, and Square Wallet mobile payments.

Users can add items to a sale by simply tapping, searching, or scanning a barcode, as well as customize items with photos, names, and prices. The app can make employee accounts, create customer reports, and compare sales by month, week, day, and hour.

Best of all, business owners will pay only 2.75% per swipe for Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

You can pre-order your Square stand now. 9to5mac says you’ll be able to grab one at Apple Retail Stores soon.
