Online store listings indicate imminent refresh of the diminutive Mac

Apple’s Mac mini, last upgraded in October 2012 (and redesigned in 2010), is about to get a new speed bump and maybe even a new form factor.

Apple this year hasn’t done much on the desktop front. Apart from the Mac Pro redesign and upgrade, Apple only commissioned a MacBook Air upgrade to the Intel Haswell chipset. The rest of the Macintosh family will undoubtedly follow suit, but when?

Well, apparently the Mac mini is the first one to get Intel’s new processor, and maybe even more (extra storage, extra RAM, even a redesign). Shipping times have slipped from 24 hours to 5-7 business days, in what is a clear indication that Apple is dwindling down stock.

The iMac will also go that route, but it might not do so until early next year. The MacBook Pro upgrade is also uncertain.

I wouldn’t hold my breath for the Mac mini to get a redesign (it’s fine the way it is), but since they’ve completely changed the face of the Mac Pro, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see the same thing happen to the mini.
