Cupertino-based Apple has been rumored lately to plan the release of its own smartwatch to compete with the industry trend, and the device, supposedly called iWatch, is now expected to arrive on shelves sometime in the second half of the next year.

According to a recent article on DigiTimes, Apple will outsource at least 60 percent of the iWatch production to Taiwan-based ODM Inventec, which would amount to around 19 percent of the company’s profits for the next year.

The news site also cites an analyst at CIMB Group, who claims that the upcoming device might be priced anywhere between $149 (€110) and $229 (€170).

He also suggests that most of those who will be purchasing the new iWatch will do so in an attempt to replace their iPods. In 2014, Apple might ship over 63 million such devices, said analyst also claims.
