Apple has filed a trademark request for “iWatch” with Mexico’s “Institute of Industrial Property,” as well as in Taiwan and Turkey. A total of five trademark applications have been reported so far.

9to5's Mark Gurman says Apple filed its iWatch trademark under two distinct categories (relating to mobile hardware and software) and, according to other reports, the same trademark request is now registered in five different territories: Japan, Russia, Taiwan, Mexico, and Turkey.

The Cupertino, California-based electronics giant is rumored to be working on a wearable computer (that looks like a watch) with a team of 100 technicians.

By filing one trademark request after another attempting to secure the iWatch branding, Apple is making it clear that the product is at least in the works.

CEO Tim Cook has promised investors that Apple will make some exciting new announcements this fall.
