Cupertino-based company Apple is expected to make its highly-popular iPhone available for purchase in the United States via more than one wireless carrier starting with the next year, as the exclusive agreement it had with AT&T comes to an end.

Verizon Wireless was long rumored to be the carrier that would receive the iPhone on its airwaves in the near future, and things seem to have been already carved in stone.

In early 2011, all those who have been patiently waiting for Apple to roll-out its iconic device on Big Red's airwaves should see their dreams come to life, some of the latest reports around the Internet confirm.

It's a common fact that Apple would have to come up with a new iPhone version to have it compatible with Verizon's network, namely a CDMA model, and things might have been already put in motion in this area (more on this on our previous report here).

It's no mystery that Big Red was eying the Apple iPhone for a long time, not to mention that rumors on the CDMA iPhone model surfaced quite a while ago, and that they started gaining more substance lately.

Earlier this year, we've seen quite a few reports on the handset being slated for production starting with the fourth quarter of the ongoing year, complemented by rumors that Verizon would have the iPhone available for purchase in the beginning of the next year.

As one can imagine, no official announcement on the matter was made for the time being, but there is little doubt that things would be otherwise, as a recent article on WSJ reads.

If so, than we should expect for Apple and Verizon to announce the move in the near future. However, it still remains to be seen whether and when that would actually happen.

For what it's worth, there is nothing surprising in Apple's move, that's for sure, especially since this would not be something new for the company.

Last year, the iconic device became available for purchase in various markets around the world via more than only one, exclusive carrier.

Since sales went up, it was only a matter of time before Apple made the same move in more countries, including the United States, one of the most important markets for the iPhone.

As stated above, specific info on the launch of Verizon's CDMA iPhone is still missing, but we should expect for the next few months to bring something more consistent on this, so stay tuned.
