Apple’s very own mapping service misplaces the Cambridge R&D center

We’ve heard that the new mapping service installed on the recently-released iPhone 5 isn’t quite the best tool of its kind ever made, but we’ve never imagined that it could misplace the Golden Gate Bridge.

The saga continues today and Microsoft was also affected by the faulty iPhone software because one of the company’s R&D facilities in the United Kingdom is listed as a gas station.

Bizjournals.com writes that users who access Maps in iOS 6 to check the location at 1 Memorial Dr. in Cambridge's Kendall Square won’t see the New England Research and Development center (or briefly called NERD).

Instead, the mapping service displays the so-called Cambridge Search Incorporated, a facility that’s listed as a gas station. No sign however of a Microsoft R&D facility. That’s a big “oops” for sure.
