Sprint was the first wireless carrier in the United States to cut the price for Apple’s iPhone 4S, and now the device is available for less than initially at more operators in the country.

Both the AT&T and Verizon flavors of the phone can be acquired for only $179 via Target, although they appear to have kept their original prices on the operators’ websites.

Best Buy, on the other hand, dropped the price for iPhone 4 8GB to only $49, which is $50 less than before, AllThingsD notes.

Apparently, Apple is following the trend as well, making the handset available for less to those who step into its stores.

Undoubtedly, the move is driven by the upcoming availability of a new iPhone model, though it comes as a surprise that price cuts are performed before its unveiling. Most probably, all involved parties are trying to clear up inventory.
