The official release of Apple’s iOS 6.1 is likely to make iPhone 5 and iPad users very happy. The update adds LTE capabilities to no less than 36 carriers that offer the iPhone and 23 operators that sell the iPad mini and iPad with Retina display.

According to Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, the company plans to bring LTE support to as many markets around the globe as possible, so more iPhone and iPad users can take advantage of 4G services on their devices.

Aside from adding LTE support for additional carriers, iOS 6.1 also offers the ability to use Siri to purchase movie tickets via Fandango. However, the latter is only available in the United States.

Last but not least, iTunes Match subscribers will now be able to download individual songs to their iOS devices from iCloud. More details on iOS 6.1 changes are available here.
