Prominent sources in the tech industry are reporting without a doubt that Apple is preparing to unleash hell on earth for the likes of Google and Samsung whose tablet PCs are the primary target of a so-called "iPad mini."

It comes as no surprise then that Bloomberg, one of the most reliable of the lot, says the new iPad will have a display between 7 and 8 inches on the diagonal with non-Retina resolution and a price tag that will trounce anything in the market today.

Apple “may announce [the iPad mini] by October,” the report said, including a quote from analyst Shaw Wu, who said in an interview, “It would be the competitors’ worst nightmare. The ball is in Apple’s court.”

According to another prominent name on Wall Street, analyst Gene Munster with investment bank Piper Jaffray, the fourth-generation iPad could be unveiled at Apple’s iPhone 5 event this fall.
