After using the iPad 2 in normal conditions immediately after purchasing the unit from one of Apple’s retail stores, a user observed leaking light from behind the LCD screen.

Clearly visible in the video embedded below, the ‘bleeding’ most likely has to do with poorly glued parts, as iamPhones suggests.

"It's not that severe, but it's definitely an issue," iamPhones said. "I definitely think it's something people will want to fix, especially when they just shelled out $500 plus on a piece of technology."

Whether or not this is an isolated case remains to be seen. So far, few have received their iPad 2 shipments, while most units will likely be unaffected.

It is not unusual for Apple’s assembly partners to screw up on a unit or two. After all, work done by hand is prone to some degree of error every now and then.

However, Apple would better hope few iPads have this issue, otherwise the company will be forced to recall and /or repair / replace units at its own expense, perhaps even reimburse customers for their trouble.

For their part, those who’ve ordered an iPad 2 recently should hope not to receive a defective unit.

Apple is currently estimating 4-5 weeks shipping times, and getting a faulty unit after over a month of waiting is clearly not what Apple fans have in mind for $499 or more, should they have opted for a 3G model, or more storage.

Softpedia readers who’ve managed to obtain an iPad 2, one way or another, are encouraged to use the comments to tell us how their experience has been.

Don’t limit yourselves to the screen, should there be stuff to report in other areas, like buttons, connectors and so on.
