A French site claims to have learned that Apple’s new VP of Technologies, Kevin Linch, has assembled a new team within the company, and it may just be for that rumored iWatch product.

MacG cites the sources as saying that Kevin Lynch has “created a new team inside Apple with a lot of engineers who previously worked in the iPod team.”

Some names are tossed around, including Robert Curtis, who worked for a great deal of time on iPod firmware, and Steven Bollinger, who is responsible for several iPod and iPad-related patents, including some for user interfaces and multi-touch displays.

The site speculates that the team’s expertise is suitable for the rumored iWatch project. According to one reputable news source, Apple is working on this wearable computer with a team of 100 engineers.
