If you thought the Apple brand spoke for itself, think again. On occasion, the Cupertino-based giant feels an urge to remind folks just how great it is to be a part of this company, as revealed in a job posting dated September 2, 2010, spotted by Softpedia today.

Those who may be interested in putting in hours at Apple will be impressed to learn that applying for Senior Server Engineer of the MobileMe division will likely end with exploring "the far reaches of the possible.”

If you want to "be a part of something far bigger than yourself," now's your chance, according to the electronics maker.

“There's the typical job. Punch in, push paper, punch out, repeat,” Apple explains, in a job posting for Senior Server Engineer - MobileMe.

“Then there's a career at Apple. Where you're encouraged to defy routine. To explore the far reaches of the possible. To travel uncharted paths. And to be a part of something far bigger than yourself,” the pretentious description goes.

“Because around here, changing the world just comes with the job description,” the ever-ambitious Apple brags.

On a more serious note, the Mac maker points out that “the MobileMe team is looking for an extremely capable engineer who has a strong background in web services development and has applied their knowledge and experience in building high-performing, scalable and extensible systems.”

This candidate will be tasked with “collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to define and implement the web service and storage platforms that will power the next generation of MobileMe.”

The required skills include:

• Designing, implementing and supporting highly scalable applications and web services in C / C++ on Unix platforms

• Common web services protocols (HTTP, SSL, REST)

• Multithreaded programming

• Asynchronous I/O programming

• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to thrive in a cross-functional team on high profile, critical projects

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience

Apple prefers that, on top of those required skills, the new recruit has non-blocking, event-driven programming knowledge, a way with distributed caching, and experience with scalable storage systems.
