The all-new Cinema Display Apple announced in July is now available from the company’s online store where it lists immediate availability with 1-2 weeks shipping time.

The accessory, primarily targeting desktop users, features 2560 x 1440 resolution and 60 percent more screen real estate than the 24-inch LED Cinema Display.

It has a built-in iSight camera, microphone and speakers, a powered USB 2.0 hub, and a universal MagSafe connector.

All this makes the new LED Cinema Display “an ideal companion for the MacBook family or a Mac desktop,” Apple believes, “and is available for $999,” the company notes.

“Connect the 27-inch Apple LED Cinema Display to your Mac and supersize your view with an incredible 2560-by-1440 resolution, LED backlighting for instant-on brightness, and an amazing 178-degree viewing angle,” Apple adds, on the product’s page at the company’s online store.

Let’s not forget the 49-watt speaker system that the new Cinema Display comes with.

According to Apple, this is what provides “a true desktop experience.”

“Made of aluminum and glass, the LED Cinema Display is the perfect companion for the MacBook family. It’s also compatible with Mac desktop computers that have a Mini DisplayPort — Mac Pro, Mac mini, and iMac,” the description adds.

Although Apple doesn’t expressly mention this in the product’s description on the Apple web store, the company’s July 27 announcement includes one more tidbit regarding the particularities of this new Cinema Display.

According to the report, the new display also includes a new ambient light sensor which automatically adjusts the display brightness based on external lighting conditions.

The display uses only as much energy as necessary to provide an optimum viewing experience, Apple said.

As with every Apple product, the 27-incg LED Cinema Display has been crafted using mercury-free LED technology, arsenic-free glass and highly recyclable materials.

The product meets stringent Energy Star 5.0 requirements and achieves EPEAT Gold status, the product’s environmental checklist reveals.

It also does away with with brominated flame retardants, while all cables and components are PVC-free, says Apple.
