Mac Pro buyers looking to configure their computer with a brand new Apple Cinema Display will be glad to learn that the configuration pages on Apple’s online store have been updated with information about the upcoming 27-inch monitor.

For the moment, Apple’s configuration site currently allows the purchase of the older 24-inch and 30-inch models.

However, the Mac maker now advertises the new 27-inch version as well, hinting that a release is imminent.

“Supersize your view with the stunning 27-inch Apple LED Cinema Display. It offers an incredible 2560-by-1440 resolution for viewing high-definition (HD) content with room to spare,” Apple states.

“LED backlighting means instant-on brightness. It features a Mini DisplayPort cable for easy connectivity and three USB 2.0 ports,” the description goes.

“There's also a built-in iSight camera, microphone, and 49-watt speaker system, ideal for having video conferences, listening to music, and watching movies,” Apple concludes.

Reports issued by Apple on July 27 revealed that, not only had Apple updated two of its popular desktop Macs, but also introduced a new Cinema Display, boasting a 27-inch LED screen with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, an ambient light sensor, and the same in-plane switching technology found on the iMac, the iPhone 4, and the iPad.

The report entitled “Apple Unveils New 27-inch LED Cinema Display” revealed that Apple had scheduled shipping for September.

“With built-in MagSafe charging, iSight camera, speakers, and USB ports, the LED Cinema Display is ideal for MacBook and MacBook Pro users,”said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, at the time of the announcement.

“With its massive 2560 x 1440 resolution, the new 27-inch LED Cinema Display is a perfect fit with our powerful new Mac Pro, and it gives iMac users an easy way to double their screen real estate,” Schiller added.
