iTunes, one of the most popular jukebox type software, has just made it to 4.8, but Apple refrained from providing too many details.
According to Macminute, iTunes 4.8 includes new features for Music Store and supports transferring of contacts and data from the agenda between the computer and the iPod, provided that the system has a 10.4 version of the Mac OS X. These are the only details offered by the producer
in the attached Read Me file.
The system requirements for this version of the jukebox are Mac OS X v10.2.8 or better, a G3 processor operating at 400 MHz and 256MB of RAM. For some functions, the application requires the 6.5.2 version of QuickTime. For buying or streaming music from the Internet, Apple recommends using a broadband connection.
And in other news, Apple has launched today iTunes Music Store in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland, the catalogue already including over 1,000 independent production companies and 4 leading companies on the music market.
All the four stores launched in Europe offer the same features at a much lower price than the one of the competition, and the association with iPod boosts the service ahead of all competitors.
Currently, iTunes is available on 70% of the international market of online music sales, with virtual stores in 19 countries and catalogue with 1.5 million titles in the USA and approximately 1 million songs for each country where the service is present.
