The United States Patent and Trademark Office has published a bunch of Apple inventions today, one of which mentions a “flexible battery pack” that could well fit into the company’s rumored iWatch product.

The patent application discloses flexible battery packs for use in electronic devices, with one embodiment describing “a plurality of cells, such as galvanic or photovoltaic cells.”

Apple could also use “laminate layers coupled to the cells that include a top laminate layer and a bottom laminate layer,” while the top and bottom laminate layers could be coupled together with an adhesive in order to isolate the cells from one another.

The invention may prove tricky if the form factor isn’t well determined, but Apple has this aspect nailed to the ground. The company is said to be working with 100 technicians to get the iWatch show on the road this fall.

“This arrangement may allow the battery to be shaped to fit a form factor of the electronic device,” the patent application reads. “This arrangement also may allow one or more of the cells to be selectively removed from the plurality, which may be desirable from a manufacturing perspective.”
