The popular iPhone 4S is about to make its debut in China. After launching in more than 20 countries this year, the smartphone is expected to arrive in the Mainland in early January.

According to the folks over at People's Daily Online, Apple’s iPhone 4S received its certification on December 22, from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

This proves that the iPhone 4S is one step closer to its release in China, as the phone complies with all the requirements for launching in the Chinese market.

The latest hearsay confirms that several iPhone distributors from Shenyang and Shenzen already received pre-orders for the iPhone 4S. They say that the iPhone 4S is expected to arrive in stores at the beginning of January 2012.

In addition, the phone was also spotted at China Compulsory Certification Platform where it received its China Compulsory Certification on December 21.

Although the phone did not show with its market codename, Apple employed the same model number (A1431) that the iPhone 4S used for getting the network entry permit from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Unveiled two months ago, the iPhone 4S was officially launched in 20 additional countries earlier this month, including Bahrain, Brazil, Chile, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, the Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam.

Even though the iPhone 4S has yet to make its debut in Argentina, it appears that the Argentinian government has just announced it has blocked the sales of Apple’s smartphone.

However, the decision is only temporary, but requires Apple to build its own factory in the country in order to lift the ban on its smartphone sales.

All in all, Apple will surely boost its revenue considerably, as soon as the iPhone 4S becomes available in China, early next year.
