In addition to Japan, Apple also made a number of updates for Chinese customers

The Loop’s Jim Dalrymple has it on file that Apple has been constantly updating its iOS Maps application, as promised, adding new flyover views for numerous countries and major cities around the world, as well as new 3D buildings in Spain, Germany, England, Denmark, etc.

Apple customers in Japan confirmed this week that Apple had begun rolling out some promised updates, including improved pronunciation of roads during turn-by-turn navigation, optimized directions, better road views, and more.

Pundit Jim Dalrymple now confirms that in the past few months Apple has added flyover support for the following US states:

Baltimore, MD Providence, RH Portland, ME Cleveland, OH Green Bay, WI Minneapolis, MN Albany, NY Indianapolis, Indiana Cologne, Germany Glasgow, Scotland Buffalo, NY Vancouver, BC Tulsa, OK Hoover Dam Modesto, CA Stockton, CA

Flyover coverage has also been extended to a number of cities, including:

Portland, OR Boston, MA Houston, TX Stockholm, Sweden Munich, Germany London, England Madrid, Spain Rome, Italy Copenhagen, Denmark Berlin, Germany Lyon, France Birmingham, AL Toronto, ON Barcelona, Spain

3D buildings and turn-by-turn navigation has been added for:

Barcelona, Spain Berlin, Germany Birmingham, England Cologne, Germany Copenhagen, Denmark Dublin, Ireland London, England Lyon, France Manchester, England Milan, Italy Munich, Germany Rome, Italy

In China, Apple has updated the iOS Maps coloring scheme. A new Chinese character font has been added for improved readability, and the company has re-prioritized locations to display the more relevant locations first and foremost.

Lastly, Chinese customers will notice an updated road network which contains narrower roads.

The blogger adds that Apple has also updated city labels and satellite imagery in some landmark areas around the globe.

Lastly, customers will notice some updates to location information for Apple Stores, businesses, movie theaters, restaurants, airports and transit stops, according to the pundit.
