Apple has something new in store for all the sports fans out there. A handful of games are now part of a collection and most of them are free to download.

The AppStore editors say they have selected outstanding games for the fans devoted to basketball, golf, baseball and more including world-famous franchises and arcade-style experiences. They also mention that the selection changes pretty often so the gamers are invited to check back for recommendations based the season's biggest sports.

There are now 28 different games to be downloaded and they can be ordered by "Release Date," "Featured," and "Name." Prices range from zero to $4.99 (€3.68) As usual, the first ones are the All American favorites like Major League Baseball.

"MLB.com Home Run Derby 14" will not tell you the scores, but it will teach you how to beat the best. The game is free so there are millions of players, because this is the only official Home Run Derby game on the AppStore presented by the MLB. You can play it in Multiplayer Derby Mode, Arcade Mode or Single Player Derby Mode, but you need to have an iDevice that runs on iOS 6.0 or later. If you get lazy or just want to make sure you win faster, there are some good in-app purchase options starting at $1.99 and going up to $35.99.

The second featured game in this selection is "R.B.I. Baseball 14." This one is described as a retro baseball gameplay with modern graphics, 2014 players and 30 MLB teams. You can choose between Season, Postseason and Exhibition modes as long as you pay the entry price of $4.99. The third game in the same category is "Home run Battle 2."

And then we're off to Soccer (or Football) with "FIFA 14 by EA Sports." This game is free and the latest update comes with licensed 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil national teams, kits and the Adidas Brazuca Ball. All the great players are at your fingertips, but the developers ask you to have at least 1.35GB available space on your device. The in-app purchases options go from a mere 0.99 cents up to $100 (€73).

If you are a soccer fan, there are seven more games to play.

The NBA selection is just as good. Games like "NBA 2K14," "NBA Rush," or "Slam Dunk King" will get you hours of fun on the small screen. The AppStore editors included other sports like golf, skateboarding, ice hockey and even Deer Hunting on the list for you to get your fingers trained.
