Imagination or possibility - you be the judge

Why not? Philip Smith, writing for FixYourThinking, found that Aptera, a concept car with "the most innovative design," would be fit for the Mac maker as an acquisition. Who can look at this picture and disagree?

Actually, many can. MacsimumNews, for example, found Philip's idea quite far-fetched, but "intriguing" nonetheless. Needless to point out, Apple has its hands full trying to get more folks adopting the Mac. While it has done a tremendous job with the iPod and the iPhone so far, the electronics maker still has a long way to go to achieve its goals. So, buying Aptera for US$2 billion, spending $3 billion in research, development and a production facility is too much of a "hobby" even for Apple, which also wants the Apple TV in as many houses as possible.

It is true, however, that an endorsement like this wouldn't even come close to depleting Apple's financial resources.

"Aptera, to me, has the most innovative design with the most unique approach to automobiles," Philip explains. "They have a production model ready to go now that will be able to make a 1200 mile trip on one 10 gallon tank of gas." Surely, it wouldn't only fit the think-different model (just look at it, it's like from another planet or something), but it would also be green - besides the hybrid model that gets 230 miles per gallon, a completely electric model is also on the launch pad.

Smith also makes a good point in admitting that "Apple is a computer and technology company - not an automobile manufacturer." However, as everyone will agree, "Apple wasn't an audio equipment manufacturer, not a music retailer, and not a cellphone company either" at first.

"Think about this... it's a given that [al]most every Mac User would buy one... it's probably a given that most people who own an iPhone or iPod would be interested. Microsoft may have the SYNC... but Apple could have the whole car!"
