Apple and Yahoo! are reportedly having discussions about new ways to improve the iOS experience with new data services and Siri integration. Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer is known to be very fond of Apple and its culture.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Yahoo! is already a big part of iOS, such as the Stocks app and the Weather app, not to mention data served to sports fans through Siri.

But the two companies reportedly want more, “including possible deals to get more content from Yahoo Sports and Yahoo News, among other Yahoo Web properties, preloaded onto Apple devices or available through an expanded partnership with Siri,” the paper reports citing one person briefed on the matter.

In its crusade against Google services on iOS, Apple isn’t exactly surprising us with this new partnership. But perhaps there’s more to it than meets the eye. The next-generation iPhone has to bring something new to the table, hasn’t it?
