A Danish magazine publisher going by the name of Media Provider A/S recently submitted an iOS app to the Apple App Store only to see it immediately rejected because it bore references to Google’s Android mobile operating system. In fact, the magazine app was all about Android, which leaves little room for debate as to why Apple had it banned from iTunes.

The digital magazine in question was called ‘Android Magasinet’. According to Mediaprovider’s managing director, Brian Dixen, Apple clarified the rejection over the phone. The key point of the conversation, according to thenextweb.com, is available below:

Dixon: “So what’s the problem?”

Apple rep named Richard: “You know…your magazine…it’s just about Android…we can’t have that in our App Store.”

Queried by MediaWatch about the rejection, Dixen reportedly said: “It’s funny really because I don’t think we would sell many magazines on Android through Apple App Store…”

However, not all is lost for Media Provider A/S which also produces a Magasinet focused on (you guessed it) Apple’s iPhone. The folks down in Cupertino seem to have no problem with this app.

The app is compatible with iPad and requires iOS 3.2 or later. Those interested in peeking in can download the app using the link below.

The company headquartered at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, California is notorious for rejecting iOS apps on a huge number of reasons, the most serious of which is competition with other platforms.

Apple has amended its App Store Review guidelines on numerous occasions, and even loosened up restrictions on competitive apps.

This, it seems, is about as far as Apple can go. Chances are any application even bearing the slightest references to Google’s Android OS will get rejected, let alone an app that focuses entirely on the competitive platform.
