Apple introduced its highly hyped smartwatch not so long ago, but even if we found out what the Watch looks like and what it could do, there are still a lot of questions left to be answered.

For example, what the Watch’s resolution is, how long its battery can sustain life or what type of display we are dealing with here.

Yesterday a bunch of preliminary specs surfaced online, showing us that the device will be able to take advantage of either 4GB or 8GB of internal storage with 512MB of RAM.

Well, today new details about the Watch surface. A new report coming from NPD DisplaySearch shed some light on the nature of the Apple wearable.

For starters, we’re finally being told that the device uses an AMOLED display which, as Apple explained, is capable of reading two types of touches (soft and hard presses).

The same firm claims the Watch comes in 1.5-inch and 1.3-inch varieties with QVGA resolution, meaning 240 x 320 pixels.

Moreover, we’re told the 1.5-inch sapphire protected display of the smartwatch cost roughly $27.4 / €21 to make.

This includes the cost of materials and components as well as labor, management and marketing expenses. The display module per se is supplied by LG and is said to cost $7.86 / €6.13, while the touch panel with sapphire requires another $19.55 / €15.

That’s a far cry from the $349 / €272 price tag the Apple Watch is expected to retail for, but other aspects are to be taken into consideration too, like the strap cost and so on.
