Apple launched the Watch not so long ago, but albeit finally seeing the world’s most anticipated wearable being unveiled, fans were disappointed to find out that the smartwatch won’t be available for purchase until 2015.

Apple simply said the Watch will hit retail locations in “early 2015” but did not provide a specific date. So it was speculated that the Cupertino tech giant might still have a lot to sort out until it can push out its wearable product.

Now a new report from The Information (via Business Insider) brings us a possible forecast of when the Watch might actually launch.

Apple's Watch might come in a heart-shaped chocolate box

The publication managed to talk with a person familiar with Apple’s plans who said that the company might not be planning to roll out the Watch until February 2015.

His/her exact words were that the device maker would be “lucky to ship it out in time for Valentine’s Day.”

According to the information, Apple’s plans of bringing the watch out in time for the Holiday season have been hijacked as the development team could complete software development in order to meet the deadline.

This aspect was hinted at by members of the press who were invited to some hands-on time after the keynote, after discovering that none of the displayed units was running the actual Watch OS operating system.

What was presented to the press were watches with screenshots of various functions. But even if Apple staff gave demos of some functional units, journalists weren't allowed to actually dig in the software themselves.

Rumored specs of the Watch have leaked online

Apple has been quite skittish in revealing most specs of the device, but thanks to the rumor mill we have been given a window into what those are.

A few days ago it was revealed the Watch would arrive in either 4GB or 8GB of internal storage versions with 512MB of RAM.

According to word on the street, the Watch will take advantage of an AMOLED display which is capable of reading two types of touches (soft and hard presses), which is something you won’t see with Android Wear or Tizen smartwatches.

It is also claimed the Watch will be offered in 1.5-inch and 1.3-inch variants in QVGA resolution (240 x 320 pixels).

The 1.5-inch sapphire protected display of the smartwatch apparently cost $27.4 / €21 and is supplied by LG.

When the device goes on sale, be it February, be it March or beyond, it will sell with a price tag starting at $349 / €274.
