Apple has asked Google to kindly pull an app from Google Play which replicates (blatantly, I might add) the Control Center feature from iOS 7.

Bearing a striking resemblance to iOS 7’s Control Center function, an Android app using the exact same name recently made it in the Android equivalent of the App Store, Google Play.

It wasn’t long before Apple caught wind of its existence and soon gave Google a tap on the shoulder telling the search giant to remove the app, as it infringes copyright material from iOS 7.

An excerpt from Apple’s complaint can be found below.

“The application ‘Control Center,’ which is available at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.easyandroid.hi.controls, copies, without authorization, the ‘Control Center’ feature of Apple’s iOS 7. Apple owns the copyright in its iOS software and each of the features thereof. The aforementioned application infringes Apple Inc.’s (‘Apple’) copyright rights in the iOS 7 software.”

In the meantime, Google pulled the app, but its developer quickly coded up a new version (with even more features) and let it loose on Google Play. There’s a good chance this new app will also be removed, but Android users are flocking to download it while it’s still available.
