The technology mammoth headquartered at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, California, is seeking an expert in Social Media and Content to head a team in Culver City, California, next to the Beats offices.

As part of the costly Beats Electronics acquisition earlier this year, Apple has retained some of the social know-how in Dr. Dre & Jimmy Iovine’s company at a location in Culver City, California, United States. The Mac maker is now looking to beef up that team with a new Head of Social Media and Content.

Online presence

Despite generating tons of chatter on all channels discussing technology today, Apple has a limited online presence when it comes to its own input on social networks. The company’s high-profile staff maintains a handful of Twitter accounts that receive updates once in a blue moon, while Facebook is practically nonexistent for the executive ranks.

More visible are the accounts associated with the company’s various iTunes Store branches. The App Store Twitter account dishes out deals, promotions, and limited time offers, but that’s just about it. As far as Apple’s hardware products are concerned, no one is really doing any discoverability on the most prominent social networks.

All that might change once the Cupertino behemoth instates the new Head of Social Media and Content tasked with leading social media strategy on social media channels, as well as content management, according to a recent job posting at jobs.apple.com.

“This role needs to lead the vision and strategy of all social media channels, including the management of current channels and the expansion of new channels for all lines of business across music, movies, TV, books,” reads the description.

In addition to working with content and business teams, Apple wants this person to “balance business needs with the need to be a consumer friendly, conversational brand that leads the discovery of content.” The new recruit must have production experience and the ability to suggest content creation.

Key qualifications, education

The foremost key qualification – “savvy in social media” – goes without saying if you have the mandatory 7-10 years of experience. You must also have managed brand handles before and you’ll need to have a proven track record in leading teams. Knowing what content works for various social media channels is a must, and it’s ideal that you know your line of work from conception to production. Copywriting will also be involved.

As far as education goes, Apple considers advanced degrees and certifications in applicable fields major pluses, while BA/BS Degree or equivalent is mandatory.
