The first mobile phone that Apple has ever released has yet to hit all announced markets and the company is already thinking of its second such device. The iPhone 2.0 has high chances of being powered by an Intel processor, especially after the great history that the two companies have had up to this
point.

The Moorestown MID (mobile internet device) processor seems to be the product that has managed to arouse Apple's interest. Intel has recently presented it to be a solution for bringing innovative touchscreen-enabled devices at great performances. One of the company's concepts was highly similar to the iPhone's, although much wider and with the possibility of bringing even more evolved performances.

The long time collaboration between the two companies has high chances of also playing an important role in Apple's choice. The Moorestown platform is expected to launch in 2009, just in time for the second iPhone to be released after the first one will have had the chance of expanding on all markets where it will be released.

At this time, the information is only a rumor that comes as a result of the great potential that such a partnership could have for both companies. This should manage to reposition the MID market place and affect both notebook and handset markets. A second iPhone release will surely have a great impact on the handset market, especially as it should pack performances even greater than those of the first version.

If Apple is considering using the Moorestown MID chipset in the future too, it becomes clear that they have big plans for their next handset release, as if there was any question about them looking to make some big waves. Aside the processor that Apple chooses, they can be sure to impress some people by introducing 3G and GPS performances in the iPhone 2.0 before anything else.
