Apple has issued updates for its DVD creation and video editing applications bundled in the iLife suite of OS X applications. They are versions 7.0.2 and 7.1.2, respectively. Both address general compatibility issues, as well as some minor ones, and improve overall stability.

With Apple's iDVD you can author and burn movies, photos, and music to widescreen DVD. iDVD works with an array of third-party DVD burners, making it very easy to create DVDs and share photos, movies and music with everyone. A widescreen DVD with coordinated menus, professional polish and ambient audio is sure to impress even the trained eye... and ear.

The latest version of Apple's iDVD "supports general compatibility issues, improves overall stability, and addresses a number of other minor issues," according to Apple.

iMovie, another important piece of Apple's iLife suite of Mac apps, makes viewing and working with video quite intuitive, using a built-in library that automatically organizes your video files.

iMovie boasts a revolutionary interface which makes it quick and easy to browse the library and create new movies. iMovie also enables you to effortlessly share your creations with your friends, add movies to your website, upload them to YouTube and so on. You can even convert videos to be viewable on iPod, iPhone, and Apple TV.

iMovie 7.1.2 "supports general compatibility issues, improves overall stability, and addresses a number of other minor issues," Apple's Software Update says; the same holds for iDVD as well.

You can download both updates via Software Update (Apple menu --> Software Update) or download the two installer packages right here from on our website:

Both updates require Mac users to upgrade to QuickTime 7.5. QuickTime 7.5 also improves application compatibility, but addresses security issues too. Therefore, it is recommended that you update even though you won't be using iDVD or iMovie much.
