Update likely adds support for the new iOS 7, fixes iCloud bugs

Apple this week rolled out a new version of iBooks for iOS devices, the company’s e-book reading application which also includes the iBook Store.

iBooks 3.1.1 is said to improve “compatibility with iOS and iCloud,” but since iBooks was already compatible with both services, chances are Apple has included some under-the-hood tweaks to support changes in the cloud.

Which makes sense, considering the iCloud bit at the end of the changelog. It may also have something to do with those bugs Apple squashed in the latest betas of iOS 7 and iTunes, but no one really knows for sure.

What’s certain is if you’re an avid iBooks fan, this update is recommended. You can grab it at the link below on your iPhone or iPad. To run iBooks, all you need is iOS 5.0 or newer.

This fall, iBooks will also become available on the Mac, through OS X Mavericks.
