Apple has updated a Support document aiming to inform customers about the system requirements for the Apple Wireless Keyboards and Apple Wireless Mouse devices. Affected products include Apple Wireless Mouse , Apple Wireless Keyboard (2007), Apple Wireless Keyboard (2009), Apple Magic Mouse.

According to the newly-updated knowledge-base article, the aluminum Apple Wireless Keyboard (2009) requires a Macintosh computer with built-in Bluetooth, Mac OS X v10.6.2 Snow Leopard, and two AA batteries. For instructions, the Mac maker directs customers to a Support document entitled “Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse: How to install batteries.”

For the Apple Magic Mouse a Mac user requires a Macintosh computer with built-in Bluetooth, Mac OS X v10.5.8 Leopard with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0 or Mac OS X v10.6.1 Snow Leopard with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0. Apple notes that momentum scrolling is supported only on Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard. Customers are informed that the two AA batteries powering the device are included with their purchase, and directs to the same Support document containing installation instructions.

The aluminum Apple Wireless Keyboard (2007) and Apple Wireless Mouse (2007) require a Macintosh computer with built-in Bluetooth, Mac OS X v10.4.10 or later. Two AA batteries are required for the Apple Wireless Mouse (2007) and three for the Apple Wireless Keyboard (2007).

Finally, the original Apple Wireless Keyboard or Apple Wireless Mouse require a Macintosh computer with built-in Bluetooth or a D-Link USB Bluetooth Adapter (part number DBT-120, rev. B2 or later), according to Support document HT3061. Mac OS X v10.2.6 or later is latest version which supports the two peripherals. The two input devices require two and four AA batteries respectively.

Since the introduction of its own Battery Charger, Apple can only recommend using the device and the high-performance AA NiMH batteries that ship with it. Each Apple Battery Charger comes with six of these batteries - two for a keyboard, two for the mouse or the Magic Trackpad, and two for charging.
