Following the release of several Mac OS X builds that bring the Client and the Server Lion to version 10.7.1, Apple has removed the old 10.7.0 builds obtainable from its servers through the Mac App Store with the updated 10.7.1 increment.

“OS X Lion is the next major release of OS X, the world’s most advanced desktop operating system,” Apple states on the Mac App Store.

“It includes over 250 new features that will transform how you interact with your Mac.  Tap, swipe, and scroll your way through your apps using fluid Multi-Touch gestures that make everything you do feel more natural and direct.”

As highlighted in the screenshot above, Apple has moved to replace the old Lion builds with version 10.7.1, which addresses several issues with the operating system.

The maintenance update, released August 16, 2011, address an issue that may cause the system to become unresponsive when playing a video in Safari, as well as one that may cause system audio to stop working when using HDMI or optical audio out.

“Full-screen apps take advantage of every pixel of your display — perfect for reading email, surfing the web, or browsing photos," Apple adds. "Launchpad gives you instant access to all the apps on your Mac in a stunning new layout where you can quickly find any app and open it with a single click. And Mission Control brings together Exposé, full-screen apps, Dashboard, and Spaces in one unified experience.”

OS X 10.7.1 also improves the reliability of Wi-Fi connections, and resolves an issue that prevents transfer of your data, settings, and compatible applications to a new Mac running OS X Lion.

Builds made specifically for MacBook Air computers and Mac mini Server systems were also released. These contain fixes that are specific to those two computer models.

By accessing the Mac App Store through one of these Macs, Apple will serve up the proper OS X 10.7.1 build.
