The Mac OS X 10.4.9 operating system is currently available in two flavors designed for both client and server computers. Today, Apple announced a new pack of updates designed for both platforms including general system fixes and compatibility updates for numerous applications. Among the most important improvements released for the client edition, we can mention raw camera support, image capture performance updates, font handling, Bluetooth devices, Apple USB modem and security improvements. The update is recommended for all the Mac OS X 10.4.9 platforms such as PowerPC and Inter-based MAC computers as AppleInsider mentioned.

The server update pack contains numerous improvements and fixes for the applications, services and technologies running on a Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger Server edition including: "avoiding AFP connection errors when authenticating Active Directory users who are members of lots of groups, authenticating Windows clients when bound to Active Directory, better TCP performance with Windows clients and servers and compatibility with third party applications and device," as AppleInsider sustained.

All the updates are available through the Software Update menu included in the Apple computers but also as a stand-alone download hosted on the Apple servers. The pack of updates for the client edition of the platform is available in two versions: 72MB download for the PowerPC Macs and 160MB for the Inter Macs. The size of the improvements for Mac OS X 10.4.9 Server is somehow bigger because it is available as a stand-alone download of 127MB for PowerPC Macs and 249MB for Inter-based Macs.
