The Geekbench results database has churned up evidence pointing to a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display that might come to light in the next hardware refresh. Should history bear any indication, the entire MacBook line will have its displays upgraded in the near future.

The text in the Geekbench results shows a four-digit build number for the OS X version used to benchmark the newly-discovered MacBookPro10,2 model.

OS X 10.8.1 Build 12A2066 is being interpreted by MacRumors as a clear indication that Apple used a special build, “such as the version of OS X 10.7.4 that shipped on new 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro models,” to test the capabilities of its new Mac.

The next MacBook Pro / MacBook Air refresh might be months away still, but Apple will eventually push to have all its portable computers equipped with crisp Retina displays, once manufacturing prices drop a bit. At the moment, the 15-inch Retina display found in Apple's high-end MacBook Pro is one of the most expensive components used in the laptop.
