The Press Trust of India reports that Apple Computer might be planning a technical support center in Karnataka, not unlike the one that Dell has. So far, Apple has not made any official statement on the matter and the Director of Software Technology Parks of India, Bangalore, BV Naidu gave no details on investment and hiring plans noting that it's for the company to make an announcement in this regard.

Although this has not been officially confirmed, a large number of protests on behalf of the Mac community have already begun appearing. Many fear that the technical support center might be too much like the Dell one, which is already infamous for bad support, mainly because of communication barriers and lack of expertise in the technical field on behalf of the support personnel.

If such a technical support center comes to pass, and it is not up to the expectations of Apple customers, this could mean a big dent in Apple's image, as they have always been very highly regarded in terms of customer support and user experience.

Also, it is as of yet unclear if this technical support center would be destined for Mac computers or iPod digital music players. Apple had strong sales of the iPod device in the Christmas quarter, with 14 million units sold.
