Apple has posted an advisory on its Support site describing various vulnerabilities that have been discovered and subsequently patched in Apple TV Software Update 6.0.

The only problem is Apple has reportedly halted seeding of this particular update, leaving numerous set-top boxes vulnerable to attack (Apple hadn’t disclosed these flaws before Apple TV 6.0).

As the Cupertino giant works to put the software update back into commission, I’d like to point your attention KB article HT5935, titled “About the security content of Apple TV 6.0.”

Almost five dozen flaws are listed there, including three discovered by famed hacker Stefan Esser (@i0n1c on Twitter), who has made a name for himself on the iOS jailbreak scene thanks to the discovery of various holes in Apple’s software (and subsequent exploits). And it looks like he’s still at it.
