Apple TV Mounting Kit Available from Innovelis

Apple TV mounting solution from Innovelis - TotalMount

Putting rumors of iPhone 5 and iPad 3 to rest for a while, we’re letting you in on a little product from the people at Innovelis who are eager to mount your black Apple TV box so that it doesn’t risk getting stepped on, or knocked over.

TotalMount is said to be the first mounting system that allows users to easily snap their Apple TV to the back of a wall-mounted television.

It’s suitable for pretty much any flat panel television, according to its makers.

Wes Schwie, vice president of Marketing, said that, "In many cases adding another media device to a wall mounted TV isn't ideal since it can mean running a new cable to the TV and the additional media box can clutter the area.”

“The TotalMount system allows people to discreetly mount Apple TV behind wall-mounted televisions, which helps preserve a clean and uncluttered appearance of one's walls," said Schwie.

Innovelis acknowledges that Apple’s ‘hobby’ is the dominant force in media streaming devices.

Citing In-Stat estimates, Innovelis notes that Apple sold roughly 2 million Apple TVs in the first year since launching the gadget.

Co-inventor Eric Wengreen believes their mounting kit is “the perfect complement to this slick little box," called the Apple TV.

“Apple is the master of out of the box usability and Apple TV is no exception.  TotalMount enables out of the box connectivity to any flat panel television,” Wengreen said.

The accessory can be mounted in three different ways:

1. Apple TV slides into TotalMount, which then securely attaches to the vents behind the television using proprietary hooks.

2. TotalMount connects Apple TV to the wall mounting bracket that attaches the television to the wall

3. Connect the Apple TV directly to the wall using the mounting kit and screws.


Innovelis claims the TotalMount has been extensively tested in different environments and has determined that TV sets don’t block out infra-red signals from the Apple Remote.

The inventor explains that "Apple's remote can easily communicate with the Apple TV even when it is behind the television. The infrared [IR] waves bounce off the ceiling and hit the Apple TV sensor behind the TV."

Those looking to purchase their own TotalMount can do so through Amazon.com. The accessory is also available at select retailers for $29.99.
