Brazilians can now buy a second-generation Apple TV, take it home and go online via the iTunes Store to grab tons of stuff to watch through their set-top-box on the big screen.

According to TNW, Brazilian customers can order the small, black set-top box through the Apple online store for R$ 399, or around $217 in US dollars. In The States, the device costs just $99.

No word on whether the Apple TV can be acquired through any retail outlets in Brazil.

The product went on sale only a few hours after Apple flipped the switch on the iTunes Store in the territory.

The Brazilian iTunes Store boasts more than a thousand movies to rent or purchase, according to Apple’s announcement yesterday.

Many of the titles are available in HD format, and customers can get content from most  major studios, including 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Universal Pictures, The Walt Disney Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures.

Launched in 2010, the second-generation Apple TV has built-in HDMI, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and an internal power supply for easy set-up.

It features silent and cool operation in an enclosure that’s less than four inches square—80 percent smaller than the previous generation, and draws very little power from your outlet.

When it was released to the American market on September 1, 2010, the late Steve Jobs said:

“The new Apple TV, paired with the largest selection of online HD movie and TV show rentals, lets users watch Hollywood content on their HD TV whenever they want. This tiny, silent box costing just $99 lets users watch thousands of HD movies and TV shows, and makes all of their music, photos and videos effortlessly available on their home entertainment system.”
