Apple Store Roundup

At least three new Apple Retail Stores are reported to open their doors soon, one of which is Canada's sixth, opening this Saturday. Up next are the Beijing Store, opening on July 19th, and (although not necessarily the next after) a Honolulu Store which has just received its glass facade.

Canada Store

"Apple's international retail initiative continues this Saturday with the grand opening of the West Edmonton Mall (Alb.) store, the sixth store in the country. Mall management bills the location as "the world's largest shopping and entertainment centre," drawing visitors from a wide area to its 800 tenants, including a water park and IMAX theater. The doors open at 10 a.m," ifoAppleStore is reporting.

A Grand Opening means free limited edition T-shirts and probably even more surprises from the company behind the Mac, so if you live anywhere nearby (and have an affinity for electronics) you should consider attending the event.

Beijing Store

According to the aforementioned source, construction on the new Beijing Store, set to open at The Village (at Sanlitun shopping complex northeast of city center), is coming along nicely, and we even get to see some pictures (courtesy of MacPlus.net) of the work in progress.

Honolulu Store

As for the Precision Glass arriving at the Honolulu Store (the second in the city), ifoAppleStore notes that Apple is "putting very finely-crafted pieces together with very little space between the components, much like a Powerbook [...] In felt-tip pen someone has written the dimensions of two panes of glass, apparently for the front window, indicating they were cut to tolerances of 1/32nd of an inch. One pane is a whopping 7-feet by 10-feet, while the second is somewhat narrower." So Honolulu residents should be quite impressed with their new Apple Store, opening in the Kahala Mall on the eastern side of Honolulu.
