Apple's online stores are down internationally in what is believed to mark the official introduction of next-generation MacBook Pro computers featuring Light Peak (‘Thunderbolt’) technology, higher clocked processors, better batteries, and an all-new design.

Rumors of new MacBook Pro computers have been abundant lately, with most leaks corroborating those before them.

In an unprecedented turn of events, images purporting to show the new computers seem to have leaked the hardware specs with pinpoint precision, right down to the very last rumor alleging that Intel’s Light Peak technology would be adopted under the name of ‘Thunderbolt.’

The standard, a method of transferring data at high-speeds via fiber optics, is apparently being implemented in new-generation Macs via Apple’s Mini DisplayPort.

Other rumors said the new MacBook Pros would ship packing both solid state storage and hard disk drives, the former being exclusively aimed at storing the operating system.

However, recent leaks suggest that this is not the case, at least not for the low end 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Alongside the highly-anticipated introduction of these new Macs, Apple is believed to completely scrub the White MacBook - the remainder of the once popular, polycarbonate-crafted family of laptops.

New MacBoo Pros are said to also employ a bold new design.

We agree that it makes much sense for Apple to move away from round edges, to apply the more-elegant finish of its ultra-thin MacBook Air.

Portable Macs aside, who’s to say we can’t expect new iMacs as well? Word on the street is that desktop Macs are also in for a boost in processor speed, RAM etc.

Should ‘Thunderbolt’ be confirmed, iMacs would need it too. And, from what we hear, Apple has some new screens planned for its all-in-one computers as well.

As usual, we’re sitting on the edge of our seats, biting off our fingernails, as we wait for the ‘We’ll be back soon’ sign to come down.

In the meanwhile, use the comments to tell us what announcements you are hoping for.

Update: As Apple struggles to get its online stores back up, the company's press room has already been updated with two major new announcmeents:
