Apple has taken down its online store in Europe following a quiet price cut for the Mac mini reported earlier this week in several territories that don’t use dollars as currency. The company is believed to carry out similar maintenance on its European online stores.

With no events to look forward to and a completely refreshed product line, Apple isn’t likely to introduce anything mind-blowing today, as it turns the lights back on at store.apple.com.

However, new price cuts ahead of the holiday season seem more plausible.

Earlier this week, Softpedia reported that Apple had quietly cut the price on its Mac mini configurations in European territories, including the Server version of the low-end desktop computer.

At the time, MacRumors pointed out that Apple has quietly dropped the price of the Mac mini in international markets citing a report  by Macerkopf.de, adding that the change was reflected in all markets not priced in U.S. dollars.

As such, we may see similar Apple Store updates today, as the company’s online store goes back online.

As of this writing, the US Apple online store was online. It is also known that US customers did not benefit from this week’s Mac mini price cut.

Clearly, there’s something “in-store” for European customers. Checks with the German, French, Spanish and UK stores have turned up the same “we’ll be back soon” sign.

As much as we’d like to speculate that hardware upgrades may also turn up, there’s is little chance of that happening.

Apple has completed the refreshing of its entire Macintosh range of computers with the unveiling of new MacBook Airs last month, following upgrades of the Mac mini, iMac, and Mac pro computers earlier this year.

It’s anybody’s guess what Apple has in mind this time around.

Update: the European Apple stores were down for almost the entire day, at the time of this reporting. Unfortunately, there are no observable changes now that the stores are up and running again.
