In celebration of the Lunar New Year, Apple has kicked off the "Red Friday" sale in several Asian markets this week, offering discounts similar to those featured on Black Friday in the United States, and other countries around the world in November.

Marketed with the tagline, “Shop for Year of the Dragon surprises,” the shopping event allows Asian customers to slash off a few pennies off their purchase of an iPad, iPod, or Mac, as well as various accessories for the three product lines.

For example, an iPad 2 sells for HK$ 3,578 in Hong Kong, down from HK$ 3,888 (Save HK$ 310). You can grab an iPod touch for HK$ 1,438 (Save HK$ 150), and an iPod nano for HK$ 918 (Save HK$ 80).

More substantial discounts are made for the Macintosh family. All Macs are discounted by HK$ 770 today only. The entry level MacBook Air sells for HK$ 6,918.

Labeled as ‘essentials’ for every Mac or iDevice users, the line of accessories available at a discount today is also pretty impressive - around 40 items, from first-party products like the Magic Trackpad (HK$ 438) and the AirPort Express Base Station with 802.11n (HK$ 668), to the Mophie Juice Pack Air for iPhone 4 (HK$ 498) and the Belkin Kitchen Under Cabinet Mount for iPad 2 (HK$ 328).

Software discounts apply to Microsoft Office 2011, and Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac - HK$ 1,092 and HK$ 396 respectively.

The fine print on Apple’s Hong Kong online store reads, “Shopping event prices are solely available on January 6, 2012, are subject to change, and are listed in Hong Kong dollars. Promotional pricing cannot be combined with any other offers.”

Customers are also informed that “Product specifications are subject to change. Sale prices are limited to stock on hand and while supplies last. Quantity of products purchasable by each customer may be limited.”

With that out of the way, the Apple store awaits you. Don’t miss out on this opportunity if you were already planning to buy an iDevice or a Mac.
