This weekend, Apple pulled down its online store for maintenance, in what was an expected move on behalf of the Mac maker. Following the “outage,” the company’s web store was soon back up with holiday-stuff, with great options for iPods, iMacs, and even non-Apple products in order for them to make great Christmas gifts.

“The perfect gift. Perfected,” says Apple promoting its newest iPod nano. The company encourages potential customers to “make it uniquely theirs” by slapping a personalized engraving on the player. “Give a personalized iPod nano. Add a free engraved message and make it a gift they'll remember forever,” Apple stresses.

Customization applies to the iMac too, Apple says, although for the company's all-in-one desktop computer, the changes will be done under-the-hood. Surely 8 gigs of RAM, 1TB of storage, and pre-installed software will sound off more than any “Merry Christmas” you could possibly wish to someone. Still, this kind of configuration involves a pretty steep price. “Give a custom- configured iMac. Add a larger drive, preinstalled software, and other options to build their ultimate Mac,” Apple says on its US online store.

Speaking of software, Apple also advises users of a Macintosh computer to use iPhoto on their Mac to design and order their very own professionally printed photo books, calendars, and cards, since “the best gifts are the ones you make,” according to the company.

“In iPhoto, you can create unforgettable gifts and keepsakes,” Apple explains a mere click away from the main store.apple.com/us page. “Like a hardbound photo book with a photo-wrapped cover and matching dust jacket. A gorgeous calendar. Your own greeting cards. Choose a theme, drop in your photos, add text, and click to buy. Beautifully printed pieces will be delivered to your door,” Apple’s web site reveals.

Needless to point out, Apple believes it has the perfect gift for everyone. Why don't you go ahead and see what else they have in stock; there's an offset chance they're right. As usual, shipping is free on orders over $50.
