With Mother’s Day approaching, Apple today updated the virtual shelves of its online store with “gifts,” including iPad, iPhone, and various accessories designed specifically for female customers.

Apple puts the iPad Air front and center with a yellow Smart Cover and the tagline “A gift Mom will love opening. Again and again. This Mother's Day, give her iPad Air or iPad mini with Retina display.”

The pricing remains unchanged, but buyers can order the device with a custom engraving. Shipping is free, and users can have the “gift” sent over to their mother’s house precisely on May 11.

Anything on the Apple online store can become a Mother’s Day present, though Apple promotes some of the more feminine accessories, like the Kate Spade Two-Piece Case for iPhone 5, the MICHAEL Michael Kors 15" Jet Set Travel Tote for MacBook Pro, the MICHAEL Michael Kors Clutch for iPad mini, or the BAGGU 13" Leather Tote.

Amid the store refresh, the site seems to be experiencing a bit of downtime, perhaps from the wave of customers accessing it to see what’s new.

“We're experiencing a temporary problem and cannot display products on this page at this time. Please return to the Apple Online Store home page and try your search again in a few minutes,” reads an error displayed by the Mac maker.

Perhaps not surprisingly, it’s the Exclusives section featuring women’s accessories that seems to be most affected by the outage.

As noted above, Apple offers a way to schedule the delivery of your gift to Mom. The California tech giant includes a comprehensive timetable on its site to specify shipping intervals and deadlines, ensuring everything goes smoothly for everyone.

“Unless otherwise specified, ordering deadlines are for new in-stock products that ship within 24 hours,” Apple says. “For custom-configured Mac models, ordering deadlines are for products that ship within 1-3 days.”

“For iPhone, ordering deadlines are for qualifying customers only. Deadlines are subject to change, and product availability is not guaranteed. Estimated shipping times and delivery dates may vary,” according to the electronics vendor.

A new Trending section appears to be available.

While we can’t say for sure when this area was added to the online Apple store, it appears new and quite handy to those looking for a random product overview of the coolest things sold by Apple. The trending section actually includes far more non-Apple products than any other section on the company’s web store.
