Warner Music Group’s senior VP and head of digital legal affairs, Elliott Peters, is going for a job at Apple. Peters is leaving his current employer next month to become corporate attorney director for iTunes Europe and Internet services, in Luxemburg.

Billboard was able to obtain an internal memo which reveals that Peters is to begin work at Apple next month as corporate attorney director for iTunes Europe and Internet services.

His office will be in Luxembourg, where, according to the Billboard report, he will manage the European legal team for iTunes and MobileMe services.

The report reveals that Peters has been working for Warner Music Group since 2000 and that  Ron Wilcox, WMG’s executive counsel for business affairs and strategic and digital initiatives, will take his chair after he leaves.

The memo in question, sent by Paul Robinson, WMG General Counsel, can be found below, courtesy of Billboard:

Dear Colleagues, I want to share with you the news that Elliott Peters, our SVP and Head of Digital Legal Affairs, will be leaving us next month to take a position with Apple as Corporate Attorney Director for iTunes Europe and Internet Services, based in Luxembourg. Elliott will be managing the European iTunes legal team, including full legal support for iTunes’ various stores and MobileMe in Europe.

In 2000, Elliott left Shearman & Sterling to take on an M&A role in our legal department where he worked on a number of important corporate transactions regarding Columbia House Music and Video Clubs, Word Entertainment and Warner Bros. Publications. In 2003, Elliott became our first digital lawyer and began to build our exceptional Digital Legal Affairs team, now comprised of Jon Glass, Virginia Lockhart and Tucker McCrady. Since that time, Elliott has had a hand in almost every major WMG digital deal.

In May 2009, we had the very good fortune to hire Ron Wilcox as WMG's Executive Counsel, Business Affairs, Strategic and Digital Initiatives. In the last 18 months, Ron has already had a significant impact in leading our digital deal-making. In addition to his current responsibilities, upon Elliott's departure, Ron will oversee our Digital Legal Affairs team.

Please join me in thanking Elliott for the significant contributions he has made to the company during his tenure, and in congratulating Elliott on his new position and Ron on his additional responsibilities. Paul
