An Apple retail employee in Charlotte, North Carolina, systematically stole two dozen iPhones between December 1 and January 11 from the Genius Room located inside the very store he worked at. The stolen goods amount no less than $16,425.

According to the Charlotte Observer, the staffer was ratted on by a co-worker who reported to the police that “a known suspect stole 25 iPhones from the Apple Store sometime between Dec. 1 and Jan. 11.”

“The iPhones were stolen from the Genius Room located inside of the store,” reads a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police report. “The suspect did have access to the Genius Room,” of the Northlake Mall store, it adds.

The police confirmed that the employee had stolen 22 16GB iPhone 4S models, one 64GB iPhone 4S model, one 8GB iPhone 4, and one 32-GB 4S handset. However, they are yet to catch the thief.
