In usual fashion, both developers and regular customers were greeted by updates this week. Those enrolled with Apple’s dev programs got a new Mavericks beta, while end users received Boot Camp drivers to improve their experience with Windows on a Mac.

It’s been a poor week as far as new Apple releases go, but there are a couple of updates from Cupertino that are worth mentioning for our weekly roundup.

The first of those updates dropped on February 11 in the form of Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5. Depending on the customer’s computer model, Apple recommends one of two installers.

Both include “the Windows Support Software (Windows Drivers) you need to support 64 bit versions of Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 on your Mac,” according to the company’s Support site.

For Macs shipped between Mid 2011 and Late 2012, Apple says to download Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621. Users with systems sold between Mid 2013 and Late 2013 will need to apply Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5640 instead.

In the developer camp there’s little to be happy about. There were no new iOS beta releases this week, and no Xcode updates either. However, Apple did hand coders a new Mavericks test build.

Posted to the Mac Dev Center on February 12, OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Build 13C59 is the sixth beta of its kind, and asks developers to focus their attention on SMB2, Mail, Messages, Graphics Drivers, VPN, and other key areas of the operating system.

The beta doesn’t contain any new features, making it clear that Apple will only try to address the most widespread bugs with this release.

Apple doesn’t have a definitive public release schedule for the 10.9.2 update, but the betas have been coming in faster and faster, suggesting that the GM (Gold Master) build is not far off either.
