Apple has quietly cut the price on its Mac mini configurations in European territories, including the Server version of the small desktop computer, with no official word as to why this was decided upon. It’s a welcome move, nonetheless.

MacRumors is reporting that Apple has quietly dropped the price of the Mac mini in international markets citing a report by Macerkopf.de, adding that the change is reflected in all markets not priced in U.S. dollars.

For example, the UK gets the two available Mac minis at £599 and £879 respectively, whereas they were initially priced at £649 and £929 respectively.

Mac mini core and server configurations are also cheaper in other European countries where prices are reflected in Euros.

Residents of these territories will see that the Mac mini has dropped from 809 euro to 709 euro and 1149 euro to 999 euro, for the two available configurations.

US customers, however, do not benefit form the price cut. A quick trip to the US Apple online store shows that the Mac mini price listings remain unchanged at $699 for the base configuration, and $999 for the Mac Mini with Snow Leopard server.

Created with the unibody construction process instated by Apple, the Mac mini features a compact aluminum enclosure just 7.7 inches square and 1.4 inches thin.

The device has an integrated power supply which eliminates the need for an external power adapter, reducing overall system volume by 20 percent and keeping cable clutter to a minimum.

Underneath the system is a a removable panel for quick access to the memory slots.

It connects to various mice, keyboards and digital displays, while the new HDMI output connects it to an HDTV. The new SD card slot enables easy transfer of photos and videos from a digital camera.
