14 DAY TRIAL // Apple has begun notifying customers that their orders on Lightning to 30-pin adapters are about to get fulfilled, starting with Australia, where the hardware is already in transit.
According to several buyers residing in Australia, Apple has begun sending notifications that say, “We are pleased to inform you that one or more of your items has shipped.”
Apple sells two versions of the Lightning to 30-pin adapter, one of which comes with a short cable for added flexibility.
The hardware enables new iPhones and iPods to take advantage of old accessories designed for Apple’s old 30-pin dock connector.
The Cupertino company has begun phasing out the old specification, forcing third-party accessory manufacturers to scramble and release solutions that fit the new Lightning connector on the newest Apple gear.
For those who own a new iPhone 5 or iPod touch (fifth-generation) but are too attached to their old accessories (such as car kits and audio docks at home), the Lightning to 30-pin adapter is a no-brainer.
