Authorized Apple Service Provider Amsys has announced the release of a malware removal tool targeting the recently reported SabPub trojan.

Amsys explains in a blog post that the SabPub malware isn’t exactly cause for alarm, but the malware can send personal information from a Mac to an offending server, should the user get infected.

According to the Apple Services Provider, “the Trojan is made to look like an Apple launcher, and also has a similar name to a real Apple launcher called ‘PubSub’.” Mac owners are urged not to confuse the two.

“It should not be too serious, as the recent Apple security updates have stopped this from sending information out from your system, but the Trojan will still remain on your Mac,” Amsys stresses.

The company has thus developed a small application that will search to see if a system has this malware and remove it. “If your Mac was infected please restart after removal,” the company says.
